New Masters course in Clinical Research

Are you interested in developing a career in clinical research without leaving practice?

Would you like to develop the skills needed to design and lead high quality clinical research relevant to patients/clients and the priorities of the NHS?

Please check out this new Masters in Clinical Research which is now recruiting students for September 2015 intake.

The course is the only MClinRes available in Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Merseyside and the only campus-based programme in the North West of England.

Course highlights include:
  • Teaching by internationally renowned researchers and clinical academics
  • Learning through sharing and critically reflecting on examples from ongoing 'real world' research in the UCLan School of Health
  • Integral clinical research experience
  • Developing networks through national and international negotiated learning contracts
  • Supported development and implementation of a strategy for developing an application for an NIHR Doctoral Training Fellowship
  • Joining a vibrant community of clinicians at different stages on the NIHR funded clinical academic pathway - interns, doctoral and postdoctoral students and career development fellows
There are a limited number of bursaries available (50%) for applicants from CLAHRC partner organisations. Funding may also be available through the NHS CPD contract (Service Level Agreement). The closing date for applications is Friday, 21st August.

UCLan welcomes German researchers to Preston



Cumbria and Lancashire CAHPR Hub Chair Dr Hazel Roddam welcomed a research team from Germany to UCLan to launch of a new collaborative partnership.

Speech and Language Therapists Professor Kerstin Bilda and Dr Juliane Mühlhaus, from University of Applied Sciences Bochum, are in Preston to discuss a research and teaching link up between the two institutions. Dr Roddam will share her expertise in promoting evidence-based practice with Allied Health clinicians with the duo.

Professor Bilda (2nd left) is pictured above with Dr Adrian Ibbetson, Head of School at UCLan's School of Sport, Tourism and The Outdoors. Dr Mühlhaus and Dr Roddam complete the line-up.

Free conference places for Cumbria & Lancs AHPs

The Cumbria and Lancs CAHPR Hub is funding two FREE places for AHPs to attend the North West Research & Development Conference 'Let's Talk Research'.

The event takes place at the Macron Stadium, Bolton, 17th & 18th September 2015.
