Research into the benefits of international volunteering for healthcare professionals

Researchers from Manchester and Salford have been commissioned by Health Education England to investigate the benefits of international volunteering for healthcare professionals.

They have developed a questionnaire that captures information about the types of personal and professional development people have reported from volunteering activities.

We would be grateful if as many healthcare professionals as possible completed the questionnaire to refine it and make it into a useful tool to monitor volunteering activities.

Do you work with people who have had a stroke?

The Stroke Association is conducting research which is comparing adjustment to stroke between patients with and without post stroke aphasia.

They are looking for people to feedback your understanding of your stroke and all aspects of your recovery from stroke.

This may include coping with communication difficulties as a result of your stroke.

Participants are required who have had a stroke and who may or may not have aphasia as a consequence of the stroke.

You must be 18 years or older and able to provide informed consent to participate in the study (independently or with the support of a trusted member of your support network).

Health Education Research Catalyst Event

Following the launch of the Health Education Research network in January, this event is an opportunity to discuss the impact of health education research on the educators, the workforce and patients.

Funded by Health Education North West, the event is designed to build the local community of health education researchers into a robust regional network, enabling greater collaboration across the region to build a strong evidence base for the commissioning of health education for the workforce.

Launched in January 2016, the new network identified four themes for discussion and further work - Collaboration, Leadership, Quality and Funding. See the full report for details.

There have been two network event sessions since the initial catalyst event in January. This catalyst event will bring all of the findings together and encourage further discussion and improvement.

The event takes places at the Macron Stadium, Bolton, on Thursday, 16th June, 10.00am - 4.30pm.

Please email Leanne Gregory to book your place.
