Starting out in Research

Imperial College London in collaboration with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust are running Starting out in Research – an introductory course to research which may be of interest to APHRN members.

The course takes place 7/8 October 2013 and 3/4 March 2014 and will provide an excellent grounding in the critical underpinning skills required for performing high quality research.AHPRN members will receive a 10% discount.

MSc in Clinical Research

Lancaster University Medical School has launched the MSc in Clinical Research.

The part-time course is designed to meet the needs of NHS practitioners keen to pursue a career in clinical research. The course supports the development and application of key knowledge and skills within the student’s own professional context.

Successful completion of the programme will enable professionals to lead research initiatives to advance local and national evidence-based clinical research practice.

Engaging and interactive sessions are delivered by a supportive tutor team both face-to-face (year 1) and by distance learning (years 2 & 3), and the full course can be completed in 3 years.

Discounts for Physio UK conference

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy are taking bookings for Physiotherapy UK 2013.

WCPT signs up for transparency in trials

The World Confederation for Physiotherapy (WCPT) has joined an international campaign calling for all trials to be registered and published so that both positive and negative results are published.

It has signed up to the All Trials campaign, an initiative from organisations including Sense About Science, the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine and the Cochrane Collaboration and publications including the British Medical Journal. For more details click here.
