Health Education England has released details of its Northern Region Clinical Academic Programme Internships for 2015/16.

This highly prestigious scheme is seen as the first step for healthcare professionals interested in developing a clinical academic career.

The fully-funded internships offer the opportunity for healthcare professionals to spend 30 days in a research environment, learning more about what is involved in health research and a further eight days taking part in an educational programme.

The internships are open to registered Health Professionals working in the NHS in England and aim to:
  • Increase understanding of what it means to be involved in clinical academic research
  • Develop research skills and expertise
  • Enhance ability to become a research champion within a clinical setting
  • Inform decisions about progressing further in a clinical academic career
